Nalban literally means a blend of lakes (nal) entwined by groves (ban). Thus, Nalban Boating Complex is an attractive picnic spot which provides a much welcome respite for Kolkatans from the humdrum of city life. Though the aquatic spot is located only twelve kilometers away from central Kolkata, the verdent beauty of Nalban has an idyllic charm for both the young and old. It is spread around a lake sprawling over four hundred acres. It houses various types of boats such as paddle boats, rowing boats and the deluxe shikaras. The boats have sitting measures for two, three and four. Some boats are self operated, while others come with navigators. The lake also has a host of isles and floating huts where one could luxuriate in blissful solitude. A distinctive added appeal is the recently introduced hovercraft.
Nearby Attractions:
Very close to the Nalban Boating Complex is Nicco Park, the Disneyland of West Bengal. The amusement park, with its variety of unusual games and rides is definitely a delight for all visitors.
