Foodie talk with Dev

Posted On :21/01/2010
By Sritama Dutta
Tollywood’s latest pin-up boy Dev loves his mother’s cooking and anything that has chicken in it.
Dev.
Dev loves any food that has chicken as an ingredient.
Foodie or not?

You could call me partly foodie because there are times when I love to eat, but not necessarily all the time. Anything and everything that has chicken in it is a favourite – be it rice or curry.

Dining in or eating out?

Though I prefer home-cooked food, I miss out on it as my family is in Mumbai while I stay here alone. So most meals I have to eat outside, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. I can hardly cook anything except maybe a cup of tea (Laughs). Even though I want to experiment, I don’t find time for it. But I’m planning to take up cooking lessons very soon. I really miss aloo posto, kosha murgi and bhindir chochhori cooked by my mother.

What’s Dev’s daily diet?

I don’t experiment much with food. Whatever I get to eat, I just pray that it’s edible. I start my day with a cup of tea followed by bread toast and an omelette. For lunch, it’s usually roti with vegetables and chicken curry. In the evening, I sometimes snack on muri and at night, it’s roti and chicken curry again. I generally avoid rice.

Any other diet restrictions?

I don’t have any restrictions really. But I don’t like either mutton or fish. And I always keep a check on my food habits. As an actor, one must be physically fit. 6-pack or 8-pack abs don’t matter. What matters is staying fit and healthy. Else problems like ulcers could crop up. Along with eating proper food, one should exercise regularly.
