Naan

Hot naans ready to be served.
The grand alternative to rotis.

Ingredients-

- 3 cups of self-raising flour (maida)

- 1 tbsp oil

- 2 tbsp butter

- 1/2 cup fresh curd

- salt to taste

- 1/2 tsp baking soda (soda - bicarb)

- warm milk for kneading

Method:

1. Sieve together the dry ingredients in a large rimmed plate. Add butter, curd, oil and crumble with fingers.

2. Add a little milk at a time till soft pliable dough is formed.

3. Cover with wet muslin cloth. Cover with another plate and keep it aside for 5 - 6 hours.

4. Knead dough lightly. Break a piece, the size of a medium potato and roll into a thick triangle (use dry dough if required).

5. Place on a pre-warmed griddle (tawa). Apply water on the top part with hands .

6. Invert naan and stick to griddle. Invert the griddle and roast over the gas flame directly (or toast over bar-b-que coals).

7. Serve hot with a blob of butter on it.
