You have a Bengali release after a long time. What do you play in Natobor Not Out?I am playing Natobor’s (played by Bangladeshi actor Mustafa Prokash) love interest. My character is the anchor in Natobor’s life. She is a typical middle-class Bengali girl. She doesn’t get swayed by emotions easily and it is through her that Natobor realises a lot of things. My mother (Moon Moon Sen) has done a guest appearance, but we don’t share screen space.
What prompted you to do Natobor Not Out?I liked the script of
Natobor Not Out and I would be doing a commercial film after a long time. Also, the director Amit Sen is a veteran ad filmmaker and I thought he would do a good job.
Are you interested in doing Bengali commercial films now?I don’t mind. I think I have done my share of art and realistic films and I have proved whatever I had to. So, why not? I guess I’m young and I like dancing around trees and I think as an actress you need that mass popularity as well, so I would like to try commercial films too.... I do keep a track of films made by Shree Venkatesh Films and some others. I, more or less, know what’s happening in Kolkata even when I am in Bombay.
Are you open to working with the likes of Raj Chakraborty and Ravi Kinnagi?I would love to! I have been offered films before by Shree Venkatesh, but I have not worked with them yet. But I always tell them that I would love to work with them and Raj Chakraborty of course... he is giving so many hits and even Ravi Kinnagi. I get a lot of offers from Kolkata because people think that I am open to doing commercial films now.
Which Tolly heroes do you want to work with?See, I have already worked with Prosenjit, Jisshu (Sengupta), Tota (Roy Chowdhury) and Jeet. I’ve worked with Rahul Bose and a lot of others. Now I would like to work with actors I haven’t worked with before, like Dev and the others.
What’s keeping you busy back in Mumbai? My film
Mirch is releasing next month and I am going to the I View Festival in New York where
Mirch is going to be screened. And I am looking forward to
Memories In March and
Noukodubi, which are coming up for release.
