East meets west in this Ravi Kinnagi film starring Challenge duo Dev and Shubhashree. Poran Jaye Joliya Re tells the tale of westernised Anna (Subhashree) from Malaysia who is brought to Kolkata to find a suitable groom. Enter Raj (Dev) who hails from a traditional Bengali family and the two get drawn into a friendship. But this friendship takes a different turn, with Raj viewing the relationship in a different light, and landing up with Anna’s family in Malaysia.

After the super success of Challenge, Dev and Subhashree share screen space for the second time, hoping to repeat their earlier box office magic. “I was excited when I came to know that even Dev is in the film. People liked our earlier chemistry. Let’s hope they like us this time too”, smiles Subhashree.

Busy these days with Poran Jaye…’s promotions, Dev is hopeful about this new venture which is slated to release in 115 theatres this July. “There’s nothing new to be said about Venkatesh Films. Each time they come up with a new movie, they rock! PJJR is a film to watch out for. It’s got all the new spices and flavours of life”, said the chocolate hero.

“The movie has a Malaysian as well as a Bengal flavour. We’ve tried to portray our rich traditional culture,” said director of the film Ravi Kinnagi.

A large part of the film has been shot in Malaysia, gifting viewers a Tolly film set in exquisite locales. With peppy numbers by Jeet Ganguly and Dev-Subhashree’s Indo-western styling, Poran Jaye… is expected to add to the hitlist in Venkatesh’s kitty.
