The story of
Challenge is the kind that have been a staple diet for regular Bengali moviegoers— boy meets girl, girl’s father objects, boy takes up the ‘challenge’ of winning over the daughter and so on.
So, for producer Srikant Mehta, more than the subject it’s the treatment which has more stakes to the movie’s USP. The film is known to be a mix of comic scenes, action, racy numbers, comical villains and the invariable love story. Add to that Dev’s brand new bronzed look and Subhashree’s wardrobe, and you expect the movie’s ‘looks’ to be the major crowd puller.
The Rs. 2 crore film slated to hit cinema halls soon, has imported a lot of its technical staff from Mumbai. According to Srikant, a number of South Indian films look far superior to Tollywood flicks in terms of treatment and technical works, which is why they chose Mumbai technicians for the new venture.
And if you’re wondering how the film hopes to beat the box-office blues at a time when other films are hardly breaking even, the producers have cushioned their project well.
Challenge is set to release in 100 cinema halls, the widest release in West Bengal till date. And if it gets the ‘fantastic reception’ it hopes to get, Srikant is confident it’ll break even in the first two weeks itself. Speak of taking up a challenge!
