Shukno Lanka is a story of forgotten dreams, of fears and reconciliation, and finally of living the magic called life. Award-winning Bengali filmmaker Joy Sundar Sen and young European actress Isabella meet in Berlin, and gradually develop a bond of mutual respect and understanding. At a bookstore in Berlin, they chance upon an anthology of short stories by Indian filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak. As Joy Sundar flips through the book, one of the stories – "Paraspathar" (The Philosopher's Stone) – begins to resonate in his mind. Faced with his own morality, brought more sharply into relief by the youth of Isabella, he makes up his mind that Paraspathar will be his next film.

Chinu Nandy is a junior artiste who has been playing bit parts in films for several decades. Over the years, he has come to accept his fate, hoping that one day he would add as much flavour to movies as dry red chillies do to a curry. But when Joy Sundar decides to cast Chinu in the lead role in Paraspathar, the middle-aged junior artiste is bewildered and frightened to imagine the strange path that destiny seems to unbar for him.

To be released officially on Friday, 2 July, Shukno Lanka had a special screening on 30 June and garnered praise for the exceptional performance of its lead actors Mithun Chakraborty and Sabyasachi Chakraborty.

M.Venkat Raman  - Shukno Lanka-Mithunda's 4th National Award   |115.187.37.xxx |2010-07-08 12:08:12
Shukno Lanka in one sentence is an aesthetic piece of artistic excellance and mithunda's performance will win him his 4th National Award.
I wonder why the great directors of bollywood like Shyam Benegal,Govind Nihalani and Gulzar never used his potential for the upliftment of bollywood cinema.
Mithunda is the only Actor with such wide range of Acting talent from Mrigayaa to Tarana, Disco Dancer to Surakshaa,Pyar Jhugta Nahin to Agneepath,Pyar Ka Mandir to Jallad,Tahdar Katha to Swami Vivekanada,MLA Fatekhesto to Kaalpurush,Guru to Titli,no actor in India can exhibit such versatality in acting and he is only actor who can bring a Oscar to India.
Shukno Lanka should be apt entry for that.
Kudos to Gaurav Pandey for bringing back the Mithunda, the Mahaguru of Acting back to his form, the Khans of bollywood should learn a lesson from him.

He is the Godfather of acting in Indian Screen and so the GODACTOR.
