Maoists shot dead CPI(M) workers
Bodies of two former CPI(M) leaders were found in West Midnapore.
Jhargram (WB), 1 Sep: The bodies of two former CPI(M) local leaders who had left the party after receiving threats from Maoists were found today on a highway in West Midnapore district, police sources said.

Nirmal Bag and Abhinash Mahato, who were dragged out of their homes in Kharbadi and neighbouring Pitjharia villages by a group of 15 to 20 armed Maoists last night, were found shot dead this morning at Kharbadi More on the state highway connecting Lodhasuli jungle with Mahapal area, the sources said.

Bag was a former branch committee of CPI(M) and Mahato a zonal committee member.

A month ago the two had given a written undertaking to the Maoists at a public meeting that they would leave the CPI(M), the sources said.

All shops in the area downed shutters after the bodies were found.
