Kolkata, 1 Sept: The joint forces will continue its operation in the Maoist-hit districts of West Bengal, the newly-appointed DGP Naparajit Mukherjee said here.
"The security forces will counter the Maoists in the 'junglemahal' area in the Maoist-hit West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura districts as per the policy of the government," Mukherjee told reporters after taking over charge.
The 1976-batch IPS officer also said he would give priority to the welfare of the police force in respect of housing, hospital and other benefits besides modernising their training facilities.
Meanwhile, home secretary Samar Ghosh said the Central Finance Commission had already sanctioned Rs 70 crore for police housing in the state, besides allocation of Rs 163 crore in two phases (Rs 92 crore and Rs 71 crore) for their training.
