Prince of Persia accused of whitewashing
The makers of ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ have been accused of ‘whitewashing’ after roles that required actors of Asian or Middle Eastern descent went to white actors. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal, an American of Swedish and Jewish orgin, has the lead role while Brit Gemma Arterton plays Gyllenhaal’s princess. According to critics, the casting was the latest example of Hollywood giving roles with disparity. Gyaneshwari Express tragedy: 90 dead
A day after at least 90 passengers were killed and 200 injured when 13 coaches of Mumbai-bound Gyaneshwari Express derailed in West Midnapore district, the process of pulling out bodies trapped in coaches is still on. Many more bodies are still trapped inside the mangled coaches. Only 25 bodies have been identified so far and post-mortem of 60 bodies have been carried out.

Maoist blast derails Mumbai-bound train
At least twenty five passengers were killed and 150 injured when suspected Maoists blasted rail tracks in West Midnapore early today. 13 coaches of a Mumbai-bound express train were derailed as they were hit by a speeding goods train. According to officials, the blast occurred at 1:30 am when the train was running between Khemasoli and Sardiya stations. Indian Air Force helicopters have been pressed into service at the accident spot and have airlifted some of the injured to hospitals. Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the accident spot and announced compensation for the victims.
