Power minister backs govt over Nuke Bill |
| Power minister Shinde said on Monday that he supports the govt since the Nuke Bill will give access to clean energy. However, he did not rule out involvement of private companies in nuclear power generation. The Indian cabinet has cleared changes to the bill aimed at opening up the country's $150 billion nuclear power market.

The cabinet has approved a 300% salary hike from Rs.16, 000 to Rs.50, 000 but MPs protested, calling it a 'minimal' hike. Members from Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD),Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and other parties demanded that this increase be taken back and replaced by a higher one.
