Second train mishap in WB in 2 months |
| At least 55 people are feared dead and over 150 injured when Sealdah-bound Uttarbanga Express rammed into the Vanachal Express at Sainthia station in Bhirbhum district. This was the second major rail mishap in West Bengal in two months. The accident occurred around 1.50 am when the Uttarbanga Express overshot a signal and telescoped into the rear of the Vananchal Express. |

103 fall sick due to chlorine gas leak |
| Nearly 103 persons fell sick early today after inhaling chlorine gas leaking from a cylinder stored in Bombay Port Trust (BPT) premises at Sewri prompting BPT, police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to begin a joint probe into the incident. Twenty-five students living in the hostel of the Lal Bahadur Collage of Advanced Maritme Studies and Research were among the hospitalised. All the affected persons were taken to King Edward Memorial hospital, JJ hospital and BPT hospital, police and fire brigade sources said, adding, they included college students, BPT staff and firemen. |
