The immersion of idols is a major cause of environmental pollution since most of them are made of toxic material and non- bio-degradable dyes. But sculptors in Surat have designed a new alternative: special eco-friendly idols. 14 such idols are being made on the order of non-resident Gujaratis and will be exported to London. The idols, one of which is 8 feet high, took about 25 days to complete.
