Are Bengalis pro-change? This is the issue dealt with in Sunday’s Desh Bitorko, at Kala Mandir. Moderated by Harsha Dutta, editor of Desh, the debate saw Sushim Mukul Dutta and Prof. Swapan Chakraborty argue in favour of the motion of the house – ‘Bengalis don’t want things to change’ – while Rajarshi Sengupta and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee upheld Bengalis’ essential avant-gardism and angst with the status quo.
