Congress drops Jagdish Tytler as party candidate for the Lok Sabha elections
The Congress has dropped Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar as party candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, in the wake of widespread protests by Akali organisations against their alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The controversy came back with a bang after a Sikh journalist threw a shoe at federal home (interior) minister during a news conference on Tuesday (April 7) after getting angry with the minister's reply to a question about 1984 riots.
