Idol makers hit by export dip |
| The recession may be on its last leg, but the city's idol makers are still reeling under its heat. Orders for idols of goddess Durga from abroad have drastically fallen for the second year in a row after 2008. According to Kumartuli Mritashilpa Sanskriti Samity, around 45 to 50 Durga idols were exported every year, but the orders have dipped to around 30-35 since the recession hit the economy. |

| Four hundred students were arrested from a farmhouse at Theur near Pune, for partying on the 'Friendship Day' without taking requisite permissions from the police. According to Ravindra Singh Pardeshi, the DSP of Pune Gramin area, students who consumed alcohol would be prosecuted under the Bombay Prohibition Act. |

Cameron pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi |
| British Prime Minister David Cameron visited the mausoleum of India's freedom icon Mahatma Gandhi to pay homage on Thursday in New Delhi. Earlier in the day, Cameron was given a warm welcome at the Indian Presidential Place by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
