Speaking for farmers, Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi said the concerns of poor farmers must be addressed before acquisition of lands. Stressing on holistic & sustainable development, Sonia asked authorities to show sensitivity to farmer grievances by awarding them adequate compensation. Talking about Stage II of the National Thermal Power Project (NTPC) at Dadri, she suggested a balanced approach between industrial development and environmental stability.
